How to Perform a Small Hawan on Diwali

First, you need to prepare for Hawana. Select a place for the haven. If you have a prayer room in your home, you can perform the Hawan there. Clean the Hawan site and decorate it with flowers, lamps, turmeric, and kumkum. Additionally, you will need some essential materials for the Hawan, such as a small Hawan kund, cow ghee, small pieces of wood, rice, flowers, and sesame seeds, camphor or frankincense, jaggery, cinnamon, cloves, and holy water.

On Diwali day, first place the Hawan kund in a clean area. Draw a square around the Hawan kund with vermillion or turmeric. Afterward, pour holy water around it and arrange the wood in the Hawan kund. Then, pour ghee on the wood and light the fire with camphor.  Chanting mantras is also crucial during the Diwali Hawan. You can begin by offering 11, 21, or 51 oblations of “Om Gan Ganpataye Namah” to Lord Ganesha.

Following this, you can offer 21, 51, or 108 oblations of her seed mantra, “Om Aim Hreem Shreem Kleem Mahalakshmi Namah,” to appease Goddess Lakshmi. You can offer sesame seeds, Hawan materials, jaggery, cinnamon, cloves, and other offerings into the sacred fire. After the oblations are complete, light lamps in all corners of the Hawan and chant “Om Shanti Shanti.” Sprinkle water around the Hawan and sprinkle holy water throughout the house.
