Seventh Day of Navratri: Maa Kaalratri is worshipped on the 7th day of Navratri. This form of Maa Durga is considered fierce, powerful, and the destroyer of evil forces. Kaalratri means destroyer of darkness. Worshipping her dispels darkness and fills life with new light.

Maa Kaalratri’s form is dark in color, with loose, disheveled hair, a garland of skulls around her neck, three eyes, and four arms. She rides on a donkey (gardabha), holds a Varmudra (Varaddha Mudra) in one hand, an Abhaya Mudra (Abhaya Mudra) in the other, and an iron weapon and a thorn in the other. While ferocious in appearance, Maa Durga is also compassionate and bestows extremely auspicious results.
