The best time for lighting lamps is from after sunset until Nishith Kaal. During this auspicious time, lighting lamps in the home and placing them in the courtyard is considered auspicious.

Dev Diwali Nishith Kaal Puja Samagri List

Before performing the Nishith Kaal puja on the day of Dev Diwali, it is essential to have the following materials ready:

  • Pure ghee or sesame oil
  • 21 or 51 earthen lamps
  • Cotton wicks
  • Roli
  • Rice
  • Turmeric

  • Ganga water or pure water

On the day of Dev Diwali, first prepare for the Nishith Kaal Puja by bathing and relieving yourself. If possible, bathe in the Ganges River. If bathing in the Ganges River is not possible, mix Ganga water with the bathwater. After bathing, worship Lord Vishnu, Shiva, and Goddess Lakshmi together. Then, purify the place of worship with water and light lamps in neat rows. Lighting 11, 21, or 108 lamps is considered best on this day.

Also, place lamps at the main entrance, Tulsi, kitchen, prayer room, and courtyard. After decorating the place of worship, install idols of the deities there. After installing the idols of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, and Goddess Lakshmi, light lamps and invoke the deities with mantras. After this, offer red flowers, rice, and lamps to Goddess Lakshmi. Then, offer white flowers and sandalwood to Lord Shiva, and red flowers, white flowers, sandalwood, and other items to Lord Vishnu.

Light a lamp during the Nishith period and chant the combined mantras of Lord Vishnu, Shiva, and Mahalakshmi. If possible, chant the mantras of all three deities 108 times. Then, perform aarti and distribute prasad. Worship performed during the Nishith period on the day of Dev Diwali is especially fruitful.
