If possible, bathing in rivers or ponds is said to have special importance. After bathing, one should vow to fast and worship the Sapta Rishis with a pure mind.

After this, during the worship, the worship material should be prepared, such as sandalwood, flowers, incense, lamp, akshat, naivedya, fruits, durva, Tulsi, and Panchamrit should be used. After this, you can worship by laying a mat in front of the idol or picture of the Saptarishis. Along with the Saptarishis Goddess Arundhati is also worshipped on this day.

You can recite the Gayatri Mantra while remembering the names of the Saptarishis on this day. Women may observe a Nirjala fast or if they wish, keep a fruit-based fast.  At the end of the day, it is considered essential to feed a Brahmin and give donations. The fast can be concluded at night and fruits can be eaten.

Remembrance of the Names of Rishi– Reciting the names of the Saptarishis cleanses the mind and increases knowledge. If you want, you can get the virtue of this fast by remembering the names of the Saptarishis the whole day on Rishi Panchami.

Tulsi Pujan– Offering Gangajal to Tulsi Mata and lighting a lamp on this day brings happiness and prosperity in the family. Doing 108 rounds of Tulsi Mala also brings economic happiness and wealth into the house.

Feeding the Cow– Feeding green gram and jaggery to the cow on this day brings auspicious results in life. On the other hand, if a person offers bananas and green moong to the cow on this day, then the troubles in life start going away.

Donation– Donation is said to have special importance on this day.  By giving food, clothes, and dakshina to Brahmins, Pitra Dosh and Kaal Dosh are removed on this day.
